Beckham’s Beary First Birthday

We had the best time slowing down and celebrating our little buddy’s birthday this weekend, so I’m just now getting around to posting part three in our birthday blog series. Better late than never!

I knew we weren’t wanting a big extravagant birthday party for him, but I also knew we did want to celebrate with a family day, some small decorations/party items here and there, and of course some photos that we could look back on forever. That’s it, nothing fancy. Lets make low-key kids birthday parties a thing in 2024 am I right!?

When I was researching first birthday party ideas, there were so many cute ones I liked (One Happy Dude, One Cool Dude, First Bee Day, Wild One, etc.) , but when I came across the Beary First Birthday theme I just had to run with it. The colors were our aesthetic and the way it fit perfectly with Beckham’s nickname just made sense. I don’t make the rules, but it’s almost like we couldn’t not do it!

Since we tend to gravitate towards neutral colored items, I knew there were some things we already had in the house that we could use as both photo props and birthday decor. We didn’t end up getting a ton, so there isn’t much to share, but I’ll link what I can!

Obviously starting with the ball pit I’ve raved about several times before. Beckham loves to play in it and and it fit the vibe, so it was a no brainer. We have 370 coffee colored balls inside ours!

Next up is this bear balloon. I looked high and low for a bear balloon that wasn’t creepy looking and this was the best one I found! The shipping was pretty quick and it was so easy to inflate!

This muslin garland is so cute! I wanted to use it for photos, but I also knew we could use it as decor in Beckham’s room afterwards! This is a two pack of garland - each about 8.5 feet long. Just a heads up that it does come vacuum sealed, so it will be very wrinkled right out of the bag. I took my steamer to it and the wrinkles disappeared right away!

This little bear cake topper made my $6 Walmart cake that I scraped the sprinkles off of look 10x better. Yes, you read that right. I have no shame either, since Beckham wasn’t a fan of the cake anyways. The cake topper itself was meant for a thicker cake, so we did end up trimming it a bit, but it worked exactly how we needed it to. I feel like this is a fun little keepsake we will keep in a box for Beckham to look back on some day - I’m a sucker for anything sentimental like that!

This first birthday crown was so cute. There were some other bear related birthday hats and crowns I looked at, but preferred the look of this one instead. It did seem small when I opened it and put it together, but it actually fit so perfectly and really made the photos turn out so fun! This will be going in the keepsake box, too!

The last thing I wanted to share was Beckham’s name sweatshirt from Zara, but it is currently sold out :(. This was a Christmas present for Beckham and it tied in perfectly with our Beckham’s Beary First Birthday theme. Since our exact one is unavailable, I’ll link a similar sweatshirt romper from Caden Lane in case you’re interested. It’s so cute and has so many good reviews, too!

That’s it! The rest of the items we used was stuff we already had on hand and isn’t linkable anymore. Like I said, it wasn’t much, but it doesn’t need to be. We still had such a fun day celebrating and making memories as a family - something I wouldn’t trade for the world!

If you made it through each of our birthday blogs, thanks for reading! As always, we appreciate you and love to hear any feedback you may have! Which was your favorite blog?
